I am concerned about all the chemicals in our food and water. We all complain about it, but the FDA and NIH have not banned these chemicals from use.

The problem is asking no corruption of the FDA and NIH. No I would not say water would be safe from growth hormones, even if the FDA said it was filtered for them.

Remember a few years ago prozac and other antidepressant traces were found in water?

Things that are not appropriate for children can be fine and even healthful for adults. While an 8 year old has not reached menarche, and therefore we find them having periods disturbing, hormone replacement therapy can be very useful in women trying to conceive or reaching menopause. So, you need to be a little more scientific in concluding which medications are "bad" and need to be banned by the FDA. Finally, the National Institute of Health (NIH) is a research organization and does not have the power to ban substances.

studies show that the whole early age menstrual cycle thing is typically contributed to too much fat in their diet (i.e. too much fast food, etc) as overweight children have abnormal hormonal fluctuations.

Children are reaching puberty at a younger age these days because there's more obesity in young children these days. If a child is preteen and fat, it's more likely she'll start her period much sooner.

It's also funny how tobacco smoke is not yet banned since it is proven to cause lung cancer.

I am "consuming" medications that would kill you. They are keeping me alive and able to walk. Should they be banned because they would harm you if you consumed them?
